The firm
Tatva Law LLP is a law firm based in New Delhi, practising before courts, tribunals and arbitral forums, and advising on the commercial and personal arrangements that come before them.
Why “Tatva”
Tatva means essence — the element of a thing that remains once everything incidental has been set aside. It describes what a lawyer is actually paid to do: read a file that runs to hundreds of pages, identify the two or three questions that will decide it, and advise on those.
The firm was established in 2019 and works from New Delhi, appearing before the District Courts of Delhi, the High Court of Delhi, the Supreme Court of India, and statutory tribunals and arbitral forums. We also act for clients in matters outside Delhi through counsel on record where required.
Our work divides roughly in two. The first half is contentious — suits, appeals, execution proceedings, arbitrations. The second half is advisory — contracts, compliance, property documentation, succession planning — work done precisely so that a dispute does not arise later.

What engaging the firm looks like
First conversation
You describe the matter and share the documents you have. We tell you whether there is a case, what the realistic outcomes are, and whether we are the right people for it.
Written scope and fee
Before work begins you receive an engagement letter setting out scope, the stage at which each fee falls due, and expected out-of-pocket expenses.
Conduct of the matter
Drafting, filing and appearances, with a named point of contact. You are told the outcome of each date without having to ask.
Closure and records
On conclusion you receive a complete set of pleadings, orders and correspondence for your records, along with advice on any limitation period that still runs.

Registration and professional standing
Tatva Law LLP is a limited liability partnership registered under the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 — LLPIN AAA-0000. Its partners and associates are advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi and are governed by the Advocates Act, 1961 and the rules made by the Bar Council of India.
